Today Is The Greatest.

Much like yesterday’s post, I am obsessed with 90′s alternative music and culture for that matter. I loved Empire Records, Angus, and of course Smashing Pumpkins. In the 90′s I wore nothing but band tee’s and painted each of my nails a different color. I had a huge boombox that would have Siamese Dream on loop, all day every day. I am pretty sure my mom wanted to kill me but that was the 90′s and it was awesome.

(In the 90′s it was all about denim and baby doll dresses. You’ll notice it’s starting to come back!)

hair(I don’t remember ever straightening my hair even once)

demin(This cropped jean jacket is something I just picked up from UNIQLO)

IMG_8986(Doc Martens were super popular. These are a tamer version of those but I still love the look of a combat boot and a skirt)

90′s music has never left my CD player’s rotation. And yes, I still own over 200 CD’s, they’re pretty much my favorite things I own.

Smells Like Teen Spirit.

903Back when Chelsea and I channeled some of our favorite icons (Gwen Stefani and Audrey Hepburn), we thought to ourselves that we should also do a post on different eras.  It just so turns out that we both really only experienced the 90′s when we weren’t infants, so obviously it’s our favorite.  It has become so funny now that after I picked out my wardrobe pieces for the shoot, they are the pieces I tend to wear ALL the time.  Maybe I’ll always be a 90′s queen and I’m OK with that.

What’s your favorite era?!

Full Bloom.

IMG_8858With this beautiful coming weather, also comes some beautiful full blooms.  My landlord has a fantastic green thumb and the backyard is always looking full of life and color.  The gardens looked so beautiful the other day, I took some time to go out there and shoot some photos of all the beautiful flowers she has planted.  It doesn’t hurt to have such beautiful views right out your window first thing in the morning :)

Some TLC to a garden can really bring it to life.  I’m not sure how exactly she maintains these gorgeous flowers but they look magnificent.  Happy Friday!

Mint Julep.

One of my favorite colors is mint and every time I wear this dress, my co-workers call me a mint chip cookie. Sounds delicious to me!

I am so happy the weather is starting to get warm, I can retire those tights for a few months!

Swing swang, it’s all the same – Bloopers!

IMG_9132Of course while shooting the last two posts, we had many bloopers.  Especially because the photos we wanted to get took some serious sand rolling.  Some shots included laying on our backs in order to produce the pure sky and swing photos.  At the end, we also both hopped on a swing at the same time while I attempted to take photos of us both.  You can only imagine all the dirty looks we were getting from 5 year olds wondering what the hell we were doing moving in on their jam.  Half were impressed, half were amused.

IMG_9106(It took a while for us to figure out when to snap)

IMG_9141(The shadow shots are my favorites)

In some unexplainable way, these photos say a lot about us.  We both always have crazy ideas that the other is always up to try.  I love that Chelsea never thinks I have a bad idea and I always love her ideas.  No matter how impossible they can sound, I know that we both have it in us to let our imaginations come to life.

Ain’t it fun

IMG_9058After snapping some photos of Chels on the swings, we swapped places and she took some awesome shots.  We took turns swinging and rolling the sand to take the photos and had so much fun producing these photos.  It’s funny to be ‘posing’ while swinging because although they are static shots, you are constantly moving.  In a sense, you never know what you’re going to get.  A lot like Forest Gump’s definition of a box of chocolates.

Check back tomorrow for some awesome bloopers for these past two shoots.  You know these weren’t easy and we definitely have some great photos to prove it :)

I get high with a little help from my friends

IMG_9033I recently saw a fashion photo with a swing and it got me inspired to do our own take on it.  It was easy enough to find some swing sets but it was much more of a challenge to find the most interesting angles and flowing skirts that didn’t reveal too much.  Chelsea had this beautiful outfit and idea that sheer skirts would flow nicely so we threw on some outfits and headed over to the park.  It was a very hot day but we giggled the entire way through this shoot.  Playing on swings was so much fun and we ended up sweaty and out of breath by the end.  I love our time hanging out and working on the blog together, I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime!!

Gilt-y Pleasures

If you are anything like me that means you like to score a deal when you can. One of my favorite online shopping apps is called “Gilt” and I often find myself spending hours sifting through all of their designer deals of the day. Today I found myself lusting over so many goodies that I just had to share some of my favorites!

Moschino Umbrella(April in San Francisco can still bring sprinkles and this u-handle umbrella is perfection)

Moncollet dress(This dress is perfect for work and play)

nude handbag

(This purse by Deux Lux is a great neutral bag because it’s not too clunky)

ID Bracelet(I have always always always wanted an ID bracelet and this is the perfect amount of chunky chain and plate to make it not so dainty)

Sam Edelman(Sam Edelman never gets it wrong with their shoes so why would their jackets be any different? When I saw this side zipped light jacket, I thought “wow”. Love)

Gilt hit it on the head today, I found too many things that I loved. If you have some down time, I think you should check it out!

San Francisco Love

IMG_5141Since I am taking off in just a few short weeks for Europe, I’ve been thinking about how much I really do love San Francisco.  It’s such a beautiful city.  I constantly find myself photographing it and even spending time photographing one specific place.  One day, a while back, my friend Marc and I went photo adventuring near the Golden Gate Bridge.  He’s an extremely talented photographer and a lot of fun to practice shooting with.

I will never get tired of photographing San Francisco!  It’s an incredible city with some of the most breathtaking views.  I’ll keep the blog updated with my take on other countries as well of course but I wanted to take a minute and share my love for one of the greatest cities in the world.  Happy Thursday everyone!

Dear SFMTA

So, a big part of city livin’ is taking public transportation and some days it can be smooth sailing. Other days, not so much. I know it’s a $2 ride but I think it’s time we start implementing some rules because it is clear to me that the Muni is a lot like the wild wild west; every man for himself.

Rule #1: All riders must be conscious.

Bus RideThis one is pretty cut and dry. Your ass better be awake for the entire ride or you’re outta there. This happened behind me on my ride home from work. If my rules were in place, he would be given a lollipop and asked to leave. Everyone goes home happy- he gets a little treat and we get the rest of the ride not having to position him back into place.

Rule #2: Cooking is for the Kitchen.

I didn’t take a photo of this one but trust me when I tell you a man sat next to me on the bus and took out two slices of WonderBread from his backpack. He then took out 4 packets of mayonnaise and proceeded to spread it on thick to create a disgusting ass mayonnaise sandwich. He took a bite and while chewing turned to me and asked, “would you like some?” Needless to say, I declined. Yes, it was thoughtful and yes, it tested my gag reflexes but please just wait until you’re at home to pull out the condiments. Thanks.

Rule #3: Double Decker Bus Style Please.

BARTIf we had double decker trains, scenarios like this wouldn’t happen. I would prefer to read my magazine in peace, not underneath a Mr. Clean look-a-like. But I would take this over a mayo sandwich any day.

Rule #4: Quit Hatin’, You Hater.

furI’m not trying to say that everyone who rides public transportation should be wearing Gucci furs (Neiman Marcus example above with security  wires still attached to the fur to prove I don’t own something this ridiculous). In fact, I like riding the bus with all kinds of people as long as you bathe regularly, don’t breathe on me, and keep your hands where I can see ‘em.

I feel like if my rules were followed we would all get places faster, make more money, and be overall more jolly. In actuality there will just be less horror stories for me to exchange with my friends, so I don’t know what is worse- having a stinky co-passenger or having no stories to tell. I guess I’ll take the stories for now.
