Swing swang, it’s all the same – Bloopers!

IMG_9132Of course while shooting the last two posts, we had many bloopers.  Especially because the photos we wanted to get took some serious sand rolling.  Some shots included laying on our backs in order to produce the pure sky and swing photos.  At the end, we also both hopped on a swing at the same time while I attempted to take photos of us both.  You can only imagine all the dirty looks we were getting from 5 year olds wondering what the hell we were doing moving in on their jam.  Half were impressed, half were amused.

IMG_9045(I just missed snapping the photo at the right time on this one)

IMG_9106(It took a while for us to figure out when to snap)

IMG_9141(The shadow shots are my favorites)

In some unexplainable way, these photos say a lot about us.  We both always have crazy ideas that the other is always up to try.  I love that Chelsea never thinks I have a bad idea and I always love her ideas.  No matter how impossible they can sound, I know that we both have it in us to let our imaginations come to life.

Ain’t it fun

IMG_9058After snapping some photos of Chels on the swings, we swapped places and she took some awesome shots.  We took turns swinging and rolling the sand to take the photos and had so much fun producing these photos.  It’s funny to be ‘posing’ while swinging because although they are static shots, you are constantly moving.  In a sense, you never know what you’re going to get.  A lot like Forest Gump’s definition of a box of chocolates.

Check back tomorrow for some awesome bloopers for these past two shoots.  You know these weren’t easy and we definitely have some great photos to prove it :)

Almost Famous.

IMG_7060You can’t not watch Almost Famous and think about how you’d love to channel Penny Lane.  She plays such a bold, free, and sensitive character while at the same time keeping up with the fashion Joneses.  You really only need a few simple things to bring a Penny Lane outfit to life.  Grab some wide leg denim, a sparkly tank, some good shades, and a fur jacket or sweater.  This sweater I found in a sale bin at the Limited for $1.99… I can’t even believe what a steal it was!

IMG_7062(These Forever21 mod heels are great for this)

Fur, sequins, and some flared denim are all you really need to channel Penny Lane for the every day look.  Happy Friday everyone!

What’s Old, Can Be New Too

IMG_7717I was doing some Spring cleaning and found an old t-shirt that I used to love.  It had shrunk a lot and kind of grunged down so I was ready to toss it when all of the sudden an idea came to me.  Why not re-invent something I already have?  I started snipping and studding and ended up with an awesome new tank top that is now my new favorite!  It was super easy and I did it in less than 15 minutes.  Here’s how.

IMG_7698(This was the original)

IMG_7699(First chop was the new, low neck line)

IMG_7700(I chopped in a rounded “V” to avoid making too low of a cut top)

IMG_7704(Next to chop was the sleeves.  I followed close to the sleeve line in front to make sure there’s no unintentional side boob going on.)

IMG_7707(The back I cut much deeper towards the middle to make more of a racer-back tank.  I also chopped off the back of the neck hem.)

IMG_7709(I bought some studs from the local craft store and started placing them on the tank)

IMG_7711(I used jewelry pliers to begin to press the backs of the studs because they are sharp.  However, you can do this with your fingers as well)

IMG_7712(I positioned them before fastening to make sure they were even.  You can put as many or little as you’d like)

IMG_7713(Push the studs through the material and then bend the backs to fasten the studs on)

IMG_7721(Then try the tank on and make any cutting adjustments from here.  It’s best to start modest and then cut as necessary)

IMG_7718Ta da!  New, old shirt has officially transformed!

Purse and Polish Pairs

We are such fans of colors and convenience.  Sometimes, you run out the door and don’t have time to throw on your new necklace or rings that you wanted to.  However, you can always look fun and stylish by pairing these fun nail polishes with fun purses.  We did some color matching and think these are all great color pairings for Spring!

IMG_7044(We love this hot pink neon polish with the cobalt blue purse from Urban Outfitters)

IMG_7039(This little purse I found in a tiny shop in Italy back in 2007.  I adore it and it’s a special travel memory that’s never gone out of style.  Perfect to pair with a soft, romantic color)

IMG_7040(Subtle rainbow tweed and a bright accent color go great together)

IMG_7043(This top shop purse is one of my favorites)

Spring is on it’s way!

February Showers Bring February Florals

IMG_7110
Although I tend to love wearing black because it’s more flattering, I do tend to also love bright colors and especially floral prints.  Since the weather has been so nice lately here in San Francisco, it’s easy to embrace Spring before it arrives.  Who says you can’t wear a skirt in the winter?

IMG_7116(Loving the Nordstrom Brass Plum necklaces they have right now)

IMG_7119(Love my dark purple pumps, they were actually hand-me-downs from my frover Chels :) )

IMG_7122(Uneven cardigan length is like a mullet – business in front, party in the back)

IMG_7118(I even stepped on the wild side and added some cheetah print in with the floral print)

Happy Friday everyone!  Have a great weekend :D

Winter Walks

IMG_6774Since it hasn’t been too rainy, I’ve been trying to enjoy the outdoors on the weekends.  The trick to this is layering your clothing because naturally you will get warm from a hike but it’s not worth sucking up the cold at the beginning in just a long sleeve shirt.  Adding a warm beanie or ear covering fleece headband can help too.  I hit some East Bay trails this past weekend with my mom and we really enjoyed the colors and paths that the hiking trails had to offer.  The same trails can look different throughout all the seasons.

It’s always nice to get exercise with fresh air.  I’d prefer working out outdoors over a gym any day.  I can’t wait for the nights when it’s light out longer and I can enjoy being outdoors after work.  There are a TON of trail heads throughout the bay area that are worthy of checking out.  You never know, there could be one right in your back yard!

Solo Yolo

photo 4 (4)

On my last solo lunch before Chelsea returned, I decided I’d hike up the hill to the magnificent Coit Tower – YOLO!  We often hike up there on our lunches because the views are ridiculously beautiful and it’s fun to check out all the amazing homes that are nestled in the hillside along the crooked walking paths.  We’ve been up to Coit Tower many times but had never gone inside the tower and up to the top.  It was a beautiful day when I walked up there, so I thought what the hell.  I’m going to buy the ticket and take the janky, old elevator to the top to see what’s up there.  You have to pay to go and we always thought, what’s the point?  We know of so many great free look outs.  But now I know the point.  And I recommend it to everyone, tourist or not.

photo 2 (3)You know this city is incredible.  The more I explore and act like I’m visiting, the more treasures I tend to find.

I will have to say though, I’ve missed my Frover and I’m so happy she’s back.  We are already working on our next blideo and somehow we’ve suckered some key players into the mix.  I.F.F people!  Enjoy your weekend.

Edible Fairy Wands

IMG_6451It’s every twenty something year olds dream to have these magical sweet treats!  Chels and I first discovered these at a fund raiser which was dangerous because if you know your money is going to a good cause why not buy hundreds of them and indulge??  After all, it is helping somebody else!  Anyway, anything dipped in chocolate is a gift from God.  I don’t know if you have noticed but we are all about simple fixes and these are a great treat that you can share with others.

What you will need:
- Long Stemmed Pretzels
- White Chocolate Chips
- Sprinkles and/or any other desired toppings (our favorite choices: mini-marshmallows, coconut flakes, sparkly sprinkles)

IMG_6356(First step: Gather all your ingredients and place chocolate chips in a heating pan on the stove.  I’ve heard you can use the microwave but then the chocolate would harden much faster so I wouldn’t suggest it.  You want to have the pretzels out and ready to dip though because once the chocolate is melted, it’s go time)

IMG_6361(BEWARE: We melted on heat level 1.  The chocolate chips must melt on a very low level, otherwise they don’t become a creamy consistency and will actually harden/burn.  Once the chocolate is melted, you must work quickly.  Keep the burner on though as you start dipping.)

IMG_6370(We learned that tilting the pan to the side allowed for more chocolate which is always a plus)

IMG_6371(Twirl the magic wand as you start to remove it from the melted chocolate.  This helps swivel off some of the extra chocolate and make the wand look much more consistent)

IMG_6366(Now here’s the fun part!  Sprinkle your little hearts out.  We sprinkled over the sink because this can be a tad messy)

IMG_6487Lay them out to dry and then serve them up!  We couldn’t help but sample them along the way, you know, to make sure they all tasted alright.

Hey, they can’t all come out perfect looking but don’t worry they won’t last long anyway.  The combination of salty sweet gets everyone addicted instantly and before you know it, all that’s left are scattered sprinkles like a fairy crime scene.
