H&M Summer.

IMG_8967While stocking up on some staples for my European excursion, I hit up H&M for some good staples.  I found a few crucial pieces to bring on my trip that will be good for the warmer days cruising the city streets or biking the country roads.

IMG_8970(Betsy Johnson clutch of Chelsea’s)

IMG_8972(I love the colorful bubbles!)

IMG_8975(H&M studded slip ons)IMG_8960I’m more than ready to go!  Everything is so affordable that you won’t feel bad if they get ruined while exploring city streets.  The memories are more important than the clothes but it doesn’t hurt if you feel good, too :)

Post Coachella Style.

Coachella-1Coachella was amazing this year and I even scored some awesome stuff like this BCBG top that I love!  I’m normally not the type to rock a crop top but BCBG made this one to fit all body types.  Not to mention, I love it in this mint green color.  They also gave me this amazing bracelet which you will see closer up further in the post.  I had the best time “glamping” (glamour+camping in our RV :) ) with my friends at Vestal Village.  It’s one of the most amazing places in the world to be.

Coachella-5

Coachella-4(Forever21 double breasted shorts)

Coachella-6(BCBG custom bracelet!  My favorite)

Coachella-3(Heart sunnies)

Coachella-2

You don’t always have to be at a music festival to rock your music festival fashion come-ups!  Some of my new favorite pieces were from BCBG this year.  I’ll be going to a music festival in the Netherlands in a few weeks and I can’t wait to see the fashion over there.  I’ll keep the blog updated with what I find :)

Smells Like Teen Spirit.

903Back when Chelsea and I channeled some of our favorite icons (Gwen Stefani and Audrey Hepburn), we thought to ourselves that we should also do a post on different eras.  It just so turns out that we both really only experienced the 90′s when we weren’t infants, so obviously it’s our favorite.  It has become so funny now that after I picked out my wardrobe pieces for the shoot, they are the pieces I tend to wear ALL the time.  Maybe I’ll always be a 90′s queen and I’m OK with that.

904(Brandy Melville American flag tank)

905(Frayed denim shorts from BP)

902(Nordstrom BP round sunnies)

901(Denim/Cotton mixed jacket from Forever21, ring pop essential and side pony = priceless)

What’s your favorite era?!

Scalloped Edges

You ever get to the point where you have more clothes in your closet than you could wear in a month? Well, I’m there now and I some of my things are too ratty to even donate so Britt came up with an idea to save a pair of jeans. It’s really easy, just cut the ends into a scallop shape and turn them into a cuter version of “jorts”.

Jean DIY

(Lay the jean flat and start cutting at the edge)

Jean DIY(Create the scallop shape cut)

Jean DIY(Apply fabric glue to the ends to avoid tearing)

Scalloped Edge Jeans

(I made mine hit just above my knees)

(It really adds a little something to your Summer look)

I am a big fan of simple DIY projects, they make me excited to make something old look new again!

Coachella Wants and Wishes

Coachella 2012With the massive music lovers festival right around the corner (literally), I’ve began to pack.  Packing is so much fun for Coachella because despite my experience with the extremely cold weather last year (we deemed it Snowchella), it’s typically the first taste of real summer.  Our whole group of friends rallies together to camp out away from the festival on an amazing piece of property where there are horses, a pool, and endless good times.  During my packing process, I’ve come across many items that are totally justifiable to buy and bring and also many that are a more of a want (the things you want to buy but can’t justify when you know Coachella may be the only place you get to rock the piece).

BP Sunglasses(WANT: BP sunglasses are my jam!  They are always under $15 and adorable.  Not to mention you don’t feel bad if they get lost or broken)

white scalloped swim suit(WISH:  These amazing scalloped swimsuits designed by Stone Cold Fox are definitely on my wish list)

cheetah print vans(WANT: These cheetah print vans are wild and cute)

Spell Byron Bay Skirt(WISH: Beautiful maxi skirts/dresses to wear to stay cool and enjoy the festival.  This one is by Spell Designs)

Anyone else going to Coachella this year?!  What musicians are you looking forward to seeing?

Almost Famous.

IMG_7060You can’t not watch Almost Famous and think about how you’d love to channel Penny Lane.  She plays such a bold, free, and sensitive character while at the same time keeping up with the fashion Joneses.  You really only need a few simple things to bring a Penny Lane outfit to life.  Grab some wide leg denim, a sparkly tank, some good shades, and a fur jacket or sweater.  This sweater I found in a sale bin at the Limited for $1.99… I can’t even believe what a steal it was!

IMG_7062(These Forever21 mod heels are great for this)

Fur, sequins, and some flared denim are all you really need to channel Penny Lane for the every day look.  Happy Friday everyone!

What’s Old, Can Be New Too

IMG_7717I was doing some Spring cleaning and found an old t-shirt that I used to love.  It had shrunk a lot and kind of grunged down so I was ready to toss it when all of the sudden an idea came to me.  Why not re-invent something I already have?  I started snipping and studding and ended up with an awesome new tank top that is now my new favorite!  It was super easy and I did it in less than 15 minutes.  Here’s how.

IMG_7698(This was the original)

IMG_7699(First chop was the new, low neck line)

IMG_7700(I chopped in a rounded “V” to avoid making too low of a cut top)

IMG_7704(Next to chop was the sleeves.  I followed close to the sleeve line in front to make sure there’s no unintentional side boob going on.)

IMG_7707(The back I cut much deeper towards the middle to make more of a racer-back tank.  I also chopped off the back of the neck hem.)

IMG_7709(I bought some studs from the local craft store and started placing them on the tank)

IMG_7711(I used jewelry pliers to begin to press the backs of the studs because they are sharp.  However, you can do this with your fingers as well)

IMG_7712(I positioned them before fastening to make sure they were even.  You can put as many or little as you’d like)

IMG_7713(Push the studs through the material and then bend the backs to fasten the studs on)

IMG_7721(Then try the tank on and make any cutting adjustments from here.  It’s best to start modest and then cut as necessary)

IMG_7718Ta da!  New, old shirt has officially transformed!

Military Mod

IMG_7531There is something so fun about mixing masculine and feminine pieces.  I picked up this jacket from, surprise surprise, Forever21 for some upcoming trips and I absolutely love it.  Since the weather has been so unpredictable, I wanted a jacket that I could wear in any weather.  This jacket has the right amount of pockets for all the things I grab running out the door in the early hours of the morning heading to work and it has a hood in case the rain starts falling unexpectedly.

IMG_7533(I love beanies so much and have a ton but this one is my newest favorite.  My mom gave this to me recently and it’s one of the best beanies I’ve had yet!)

IMG_7540(The gold zippers are what had me sold)

IMG_7547(Winter ready!)

IMG_7551(Love these mod shoes from Forever 21)

IMG_7535Throw on some leggings and call it a day!  This is super comfortable and you can interchange boots, heels, or sandals depending on where you are going.

Leftover Manicure

IMG_7443Not the kind of left overs you are probably thinking about.  I had these two nail stickers leftover from when Chels and I went nail sticker crazy so I decided to use the last two stickers for a Leftover Manicure.  These stickers really are the best because they can put up with my wear and tear!

IMG_7445(I painted all but one nail on each hand and used the leftover stickers to switch it up a bit)

IMG_7448(A nail file is the key to these sticker manicures.  The file helps shave off the ends)

IMG_7470

Ta-da!  Easy and fun nails.  If you end up doing your nails like this or have any other fun nail ideas, send us a pic because we’d love to see!
