Ain’t it fun

IMG_9058After snapping some photos of Chels on the swings, we swapped places and she took some awesome shots.  We took turns swinging and rolling the sand to take the photos and had so much fun producing these photos.  It’s funny to be ‘posing’ while swinging because although they are static shots, you are constantly moving.  In a sense, you never know what you’re going to get.  A lot like Forest Gump’s definition of a box of chocolates.

Check back tomorrow for some awesome bloopers for these past two shoots.  You know these weren’t easy and we definitely have some great photos to prove it 🙂

I get high with a little help from my friends

IMG_9033I recently saw a fashion photo with a swing and it got me inspired to do our own take on it.  It was easy enough to find some swing sets but it was much more of a challenge to find the most interesting angles and flowing skirts that didn’t reveal too much.  Chelsea had this beautiful outfit and idea that sheer skirts would flow nicely so we threw on some outfits and headed over to the park.  It was a very hot day but we giggled the entire way through this shoot.  Playing on swings was so much fun and we ended up sweaty and out of breath by the end.  I love our time hanging out and working on the blog together, I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime!!

Gilt-y Pleasures

If you are anything like me that means you like to score a deal when you can. One of my favorite online shopping apps is called “Gilt” and I often find myself spending hours sifting through all of their designer deals of the day. Today I found myself lusting over so many goodies that I just had to share some of my favorites!

Moschino Umbrella(April in San Francisco can still bring sprinkles and this u-handle umbrella is perfection)

Moncollet dress(This dress is perfect for work and play)

nude handbag

(This purse by Deux Lux is a great neutral bag because it’s not too clunky)

ID Bracelet(I have always always always wanted an ID bracelet and this is the perfect amount of chunky chain and plate to make it not so dainty)

Sam Edelman(Sam Edelman never gets it wrong with their shoes so why would their jackets be any different? When I saw this side zipped light jacket, I thought “wow”. Love)

Gilt hit it on the head today, I found too many things that I loved. If you have some down time, I think you should check it out!

San Francisco Love

IMG_5141Since I am taking off in just a few short weeks for Europe, I’ve been thinking about how much I really do love San Francisco.  It’s such a beautiful city.  I constantly find myself photographing it and even spending time photographing one specific place.  One day, a while back, my friend Marc and I went photo adventuring near the Golden Gate Bridge.  He’s an extremely talented photographer and a lot of fun to practice shooting with.

I will never get tired of photographing San Francisco!  It’s an incredible city with some of the most breathtaking views.  I’ll keep the blog updated with my take on other countries as well of course but I wanted to take a minute and share my love for one of the greatest cities in the world.  Happy Thursday everyone!

Dear SFMTA

So, a big part of city livin’ is taking public transportation and some days it can be smooth sailing. Other days, not so much. I know it’s a $2 ride but I think it’s time we start implementing some rules because it is clear to me that the Muni is a lot like the wild wild west; every man for himself.

Rule #1: All riders must be conscious.

Bus RideThis one is pretty cut and dry. Your ass better be awake for the entire ride or you’re outta there. This happened behind me on my ride home from work. If my rules were in place, he would be given a lollipop and asked to leave. Everyone goes home happy- he gets a little treat and we get the rest of the ride not having to position him back into place.

Rule #2: Cooking is for the Kitchen.

I didn’t take a photo of this one but trust me when I tell you a man sat next to me on the bus and took out two slices of WonderBread from his backpack. He then took out 4 packets of mayonnaise and proceeded to spread it on thick to create a disgusting ass mayonnaise sandwich. He took a bite and while chewing turned to me and asked, “would you like some?” Needless to say, I declined. Yes, it was thoughtful and yes, it tested my gag reflexes but please just wait until you’re at home to pull out the condiments. Thanks.

Rule #3: Double Decker Bus Style Please.

BARTIf we had double decker trains, scenarios like this wouldn’t happen. I would prefer to read my magazine in peace, not underneath a Mr. Clean look-a-like. But I would take this over a mayo sandwich any day.

Rule #4: Quit Hatin’, You Hater.

furI’m not trying to say that everyone who rides public transportation should be wearing Gucci furs (Neiman Marcus example above with security  wires still attached to the fur to prove I don’t own something this ridiculous). In fact, I like riding the bus with all kinds of people as long as you bathe regularly, don’t breathe on me, and keep your hands where I can see ’em.

I feel like if my rules were followed we would all get places faster, make more money, and be overall more jolly. In actuality there will just be less horror stories for me to exchange with my friends, so I don’t know what is worse- having a stinky co-passenger or having no stories to tell. I guess I’ll take the stories for now.

Photo Feature – Bre and Tibet

IMG_8391

A few posts back, I teased this shoot I did with my friend Bre and her horse, Tibet.  They were really fun to shoot because they both have very elegant features.  Together, they are showing at an extremely high level after Bre worked Tibet back from recovery not too long ago.  I absolutely love watching these two together and was so grateful that they asked me to shoot some photos of them.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Scalloped Edges

You ever get to the point where you have more clothes in your closet than you could wear in a month? Well, I’m there now and I some of my things are too ratty to even donate so Britt came up with an idea to save a pair of jeans. It’s really easy, just cut the ends into a scallop shape and turn them into a cuter version of “jorts”.

Jean DIY

(Lay the jean flat and start cutting at the edge)

Jean DIY(Create the scallop shape cut)

Jean DIY(Apply fabric glue to the ends to avoid tearing)

Scalloped Edge Jeans

(I made mine hit just above my knees)

(It really adds a little something to your Summer look)

I am a big fan of simple DIY projects, they make me excited to make something old look new again!

New Beginnings.

IFLYesterday Brittany resigned from the office we work in together to start a new adventure! We have a few weeks left together at work and while I am sad that I won’t be able to see her whenever I want anymore, we will still be besties and share all of our good times together on this blog. With that said, I wanted to share one of my very favorite Brittany memories with you all. This is the one that I always reflect on and laugh because if I could describe Brittany in one word, I couldn’t. But I can share this story with you.

First, you should know that my favorite band is the Smashing Pumpkins and hers is the Wombats (who we are seeing tonight so this is very fitting).  It goes like this:

Chelsea: You know, I think I might like Two Door Cinema Club better than the Wombats

Brittany: How could you say that? You know I love the Wombats!

C: I know, I love them too but I think I might just like Two Door a little better

B: No, that is like me saying, “I like the Silversun Pickups better than the Smashing Pumpkins”

C: But you do like the Silversun Pickups better than the Smashing Pumpkins

B: I know, but I would NEVER say that to you!

And there you have it, Brittany is just a great friend. She can always make me laugh, even when she doesn’t mean to at all. It’s really simple, she just doesn’t have a bad bone in her body and that is why I will miss seeing her face Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM. But we will always have lunch.

IFL(Now who’s going to fix me when I’m a mess?!)

Photo Teaser

IMG_8588While in the process of catching up from Coachella, I realized I should give a sneak peak of another photo shoot I shot a few weeks ago.  It was a special one because my friend, who is also the owner of this beautiful horse, wanted to incorporate her grandfather’s military flag.  It was a brilliant idea of theirs and they looked beautiful.  There’s something so wonderful about bringing meaning to the people and pets you love like using this special flag in the present.  I’ll post a few more of these soon.  Until then, enjoy this sneak peak!

Portugal. The Man

Portugal. The Man has been one of my favorite bands for the past five years. And since moving back home to San Francisco two and a half years ago I have been able to see them play live three times. Each time better than the last and this past Friday’s show at the Independent was no exception. This show had these floating orbs that changed colors, which added a little flare I have never seen before. Check out the pics.

(The Independent is a tiny venue, holding about 400 people. It feels like you are part of the band)

Check out a little snippet of the show. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you soon will. Their new album is due out June 4 and is produced by Danger Mouse.
