This weekend we walked through downtown Petaluma and you could have sworn we were in Boston by the color of the trees. I had to stop and take pictures of these gorgeous maples turning from green to red.
Lastly, these gorgeous yellow leaves against the brilliant blue sky.
It was a beautiful day for primary colors! Now the trees will be leafless and the rain will come, I do love that too!

My good friend, Sheena, and her friend, Arel, have just moved to San Francisco from Barbados. I’ve been so excited for this day and it’s been fun exploring the bay area with them. There are so many amazing places to visit and it was such a treat to get to take them to Muir Woods the other weekend!
Sheena behind the redwoods 🙂
The trail has these fun little bridges to cross over water streams when there is a large water flow.
Look at these cute Bajan babes!
Rob came along, too 🙂
They are adorable!
Sheena and I being yogi’s at the top of the trail near Panoramic Highway.
Views for miles.
You can access the Muir Woods trails from many different access points. We started from Panormaic Highway on the ridge and hiked down before hiking back up and out. If you park at the bottom and end up at the National Monument for the Redwood trees, there is a fee but if you are just going for the hike, make sure to look up access points before you go. It’s a great hike!

The temperatures are slowly starting to drop but the sun is still shining so what better way to spend the time then to get outside and enjoy it. Rob and I headed to Muir Woods over the weekend so get a good hike in and breathe the fresh air. We ended up hiking up through the redwoods to the Panoramic highway and then back down through the Dipsea trail. It was beautiful and refreshing and a great way to have a staycation.
The trees are so massive and beautiful. Most of them are over 2,000 years old, pretty incredible.
Playing around with the Hipstomatic App. My favorite is still the Pro HDR app for photography.
The canopies stand at over 300 ft tall.
It is the true Fern Gully. Simply stunning.
Someone had strewn christmas ornaments along the trails!
We thought we might get lucky and the Tourist Club would be open but we must have missed it for December.
You can’t beat the views.
Wandering down the Dipsea Trail.
View from the top.
Happy New Year! We will be back in 2015 🙂

If you follow our blog, you know how much I love to be outside. The weather has been incredibly warm this week in San Francisco. We are talking above 70s which is not the norm. I took full advantage of the time outside which included a walk on the beach after work on Tuesday evening. As I was walking out to the waters edge, I started seeing spouts bursting straight into the air. 3 of them right among the surfers and there were the most surfers I’ve seen out there in a while. What I saw next blew me away, a large pod of humpback whales breaching and frolicking amongst the surfers. I’m sure it wasn’t as neat to be a surfer and have one of them surprise you next to your dangling feet but it seemed like an extra special sighting that I felt lucky to witness.
You can see one spout in the distance.
Two of them here popped up to watch the sunset.
It was truly unbelievable and I hope to see them again on my next beach walk. There are places you can go in the bay area to whale watch and it looks like this weekend might be the time to do it! Check out this company to leave right out of Pier 39 and maybe you’ll get luck enough to see these beautiful mammals navigate the seas.
Have a great weekend!

I was looking through my photos the other day and some made me laugh while others made me say “what was that?!” Either way, they all bring back great memories and I thought I would share some of my favorites with you.

Snapping pictures with my phone has become one of my favorite hobbies. You never know what moment you’re going to capture.

I can’t even pretend that Spring has not got me sprung. The taste of the warm weather has never felt better. I love winter but when the warm weather sneaks up on you, it’s nice to embrace it. Along with the nice weather, brings the flowers that are starting to pop up everywhere. The colors are brilliant and the sky tends to match. Welcome Spring!
Now that Spring is here, it’s time to explore new territories and enjoy the fresh air. Happy Spring everyone!
