A San Rafael summer isn’t complete without the annual Italian Street Painting Festival. Talented artists from all over the world gather to create beautiful chalk pieces. I love being there at the beginning and seeing little pieces of street come to life. I hope you enjoy some of my favorites.

About a year ago, my friend Lindsay dragged half of a broken tree to my doorstep because she knew I was on the lookout for good piece of branch for an art project. What a friend, I mean she stumbled up them gem on a walk and carried it to me! I didn’t have the end result in my mind at the time but I knew it needed to be big; it had to with a start like this one. I began by taking my favorite piece and spraying it gold. It sat like that for about a year until I was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest. After scooping up some yarn and strings of leather, I quickly put together a great piece of wall art.
(I tied together pieces of leather in order to hang the branch)
(I chose colors that tied in with what I am using in my apartment)
(Close up of the gold branch)
I really love the end result. It is so simple but adds a lot of color to our room. The teal is the same color as a desk that I have and the orange flows nicely with our duvet. There are somethings that you have to go out and make in order for it to be exactly what you need.

I work with some amazingly inspiring people and the other day while rocking these earrings, one of them asked me if I had seen Pippa McManus’s fashion illustrations recently. He showed me some of the drawings and how large earrings are going to be big in upcoming runway shows. I love the idea of very simple outfits with one bold piece and if the earring isn’t too heavy, I’m in FULL suppot of rocking the bling in jewelry form. Check out some of this amazing artists images below.
What’s not to love about these gorgeous high fashion illustrations?! You can check out more of Pippa McManus’s inspiring pieces at her Facebook page.
I love, love, love bright colors. They scream happy and artistic to me which says a lot about the people in a certain area. I saw so many interesting colors that I wanted to share because everyone could use a little extra happy on hump day. I found most of these places while biking around. I love beautiful street art whether it comes in painted or architecture form. It’s all eye candy to me. (The above was in Amsterdam)
(Tulips EVERYWHERE in Holland <3. These were wooden souvenirs but I thought they were gorgeous)
(Soft ice in Copenhagen)
(This is one of my favorites from Copenhagen)
(Love, love, loved the colors of Denmark)
I hope these colors added a little happy to your day!

Sorry for the Ryan Gosling Berlin update but you can only imagine my excitement when I rounded the corner not knowing where I was and saw that sweet face looking back at me. Anyway, the weather has been all over the place here in Berlin but I’ve managed to bike, walk, and train around all over the city. It’s a very interesting city and one that very much reminds me of San Francisco.
(The nightlife is a huge part of Berlin’s culture as well as art. This was made solely out of masking tape)

After snapping some photos of Chels on the swings, we swapped places and she took some awesome shots. We took turns swinging and rolling the sand to take the photos and had so much fun producing these photos. It’s funny to be ‘posing’ while swinging because although they are static shots, you are constantly moving. In a sense, you never know what you’re going to get. A lot like Forest Gump’s definition of a box of chocolates.
Check back tomorrow for some awesome bloopers for these past two shoots. You know these weren’t easy and we definitely have some great photos to prove it 🙂

I recently saw a fashion photo with a swing and it got me inspired to do our own take on it. It was easy enough to find some swing sets but it was much more of a challenge to find the most interesting angles and flowing skirts that didn’t reveal too much. Chelsea had this beautiful outfit and idea that sheer skirts would flow nicely so we threw on some outfits and headed over to the park. It was a very hot day but we giggled the entire way through this shoot. Playing on swings was so much fun and we ended up sweaty and out of breath by the end. I love our time hanging out and working on the blog together, I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime!!
(The sky is never the limit)
(This is one of my favorites. She is so elegant and graceful)
We hope you all had a great weekend!
I can’t explain my fascination with comparing things to crack. It just seems like people use the term crack when talking about very addicting things and you know, sprinkles are very addicting to me. Therefore I present, Sprinkle Crack! You may remember these pretty sprinkles that I used in this recent post when making Cake in a Cup. They have resurfaced in creating special lattes/coffees! This is just to add a little more happy to your day.
(It’s these beautiful crystalized, sprinkles again. You can use them for so many great things)
(Just add them to the top of your frothed milk. I have this little handheld frother that works great or when at my parents’, they have a milk steamer which is heaven!)
(To enjoy it even more, I throw on some heart glasses and drink that bad boy down. Instant motivation to have an over the top fabulous day. With Valentine’s Day coming up, you just become more festive. Who would’ve thought that all it takes is some sprinkles and some fabulous shades?!)
I can’t even begin to explain the joy coffee brings to me so just adding a little extra sprinkle to my day, really starts things off right. And hey, why not pass the joy on?? When making a latte or coffee for a friend, surprise them by adding a few pretty sprinkles to their cup. You will have a bestie for life!
Ever since I was a young girl I was drawing; art has always been my very first love. Paris was filled with life, color or something outrageously beautiful and perfect everywhere I turned.
(The unbelievable Paris Opera has ceiling art created by the modernist painter Marc Chagall. I was in awe of my surroundings as I watched the ballet perform)
(Every turn was accompanied by magical costumes once worn in past performances)
(The Tuileries Gardens outside of the Louvre holds amazing statues, pictures cannot do them justice)
(One of my favorite rooms in the Palace of Versailles held a hall full of statues. The way the light peeked in cast amazing shadows)
There were also bits of darkness as the city has a history of death and disease which ultimately will inspire as a result. Take a look at what I mean.
(The Catacombs of Paris holds 6 million skeletons delicately placed throughout since the late 1700’s. While this is not technically art it is very amazing to look at )
(There are so many interesting things to look at but I tried my very best to not forget that this was a cemetery and these bones belonged to people alive over 200 years ago. It is a testament to how preserved France’s history is)
France has art all around, from the canal to the sky, there is always something to see and admire.
