Since we have finally received some rain, it’s so nice to see the hills so green! I put Maz in this plush, beautiful and green pasture to play with his brother Phillip (the white horse in the photos). They were having a great time so I brought my camera and snapped some pics of them. As much as I love winter, there’s nothing like a sunny barn day to relax and hang out.
Maz was really loving running around!
After they’d run around for a while, they’d stop and pluck some grass.
Then I let them join their other horse friend, Joia, and the birds came swooping in. I wish there was such a thing as a professional horse photographer, I’d be all over that 🙂
If you read this blog, you know what a huge horse fan I am. Some of my favorite moments are spent at the barn no matter what the weather is. When the sun is going down, I find great solace in spending time at the barn during the golden hour as I like to call it :). I brought my camera out the last time I was there for a sunset and snapped some photos to be able to share this magical time.
All of the local animals are out at this time.
The lighting is beautiful.
As we say farewell to Fall, I look forward to snowy winters in the mountains.
A few posts back, I teased this shoot I did with my friend Bre and her horse, Tibet. They were really fun to shoot because they both have very elegant features. Together, they are showing at an extremely high level after Bre worked Tibet back from recovery not too long ago. I absolutely love watching these two together and was so grateful that they asked me to shoot some photos of them. Here are a few of my favorites.
(Bre’s grandfather’s WWII flag draped on Tibet was beautiful)
Springtime is the best time for colorful photos.
Hope you are all having a great week!

I did a photo shoot for an extremely talented rider and friend from my barn last week of her and her horse, Winny. They were beautiful models and I couldn’t have asked for a better shooting day. Together these two have won many competitions and are really a treat to get to watch. Such a powerful duo and they are really bonded which is fun to watch.
(This is my favorite photo for it’s softness and natural motion. They are both beautiful!)
These two were the perfect models and their photos came out beautiful. I feel so honored that they asked me to take some photos of them 🙂 Happy Friday everyone!

My entire life, I’ve had this thing for horses. I’ve ridden and taken care of them since I could walk and talk. I was beyond thrilled when Chelsea and our friend Henry wanted to get out to the barn and work with the horses to try and get some artsy blog worthy photos. Chelsea’s photos came out UNREAL and she was a champ with the horses. These are a few of mine.
The barn is the place I go to decompress and enjoy being outdoors. What do you do in your spare time? How much do you think it would take to get Chelsea on a horse? Maybe another Blideo idea is on the rise… Happy Friday everyone. As we like to say, IFF (It’s F#$&ing Friday)!
Brittany and I are big fans of photography and she has been talking about taking pictures with the sun setting for months. We finally got a chance to go out to the barn she rides at and used a very heavy and beautiful prop- a walking, talking (okay, he doesn’t talk but he sure does eat) horse! He was happy just grazing the entire time, I must say he is a natural in front of the camera.
(I love the way the light beams through our hair, it gives a pretty golden effect)
(This is it, the shot Britt was hoping for. She took this photo right as the sun was setting with literally seconds to spare)
(This photo goes to show that composition is everything. I love the reflection in the water as well as the weight in the bottom of the photo, it is one of my favorites)
(After hours with a very hungry horse, we had a minute where he was very still. This was an amazing moment where I felt the same size as him if that is possible)
(Another great silhouette shot, look at the detail in his mane- he is so gorgeous)
While I would not consider myself to be a horse person (or an anything person to be honest) I can’t remember a time when I was more relaxed than while I was at the barn. You are in a world removed from the hectic city as you hear crickets chirp and starlings flutter above you. I jump at the chance to go there as I get to spend my time reading or taking photos, I know why Brittany goes as much as she does. It is a real life “happy place”.
