Stars and Sparkles.

When I saw this amazing skirt of Chelsea’s, I knew I had to try it on immediately.  I’ve always wanted to figure out how to wear an amazingly fun, Carrie Bradshaw type skirt and this was the perfect skirt.  I basically raided her closet because the Sorel platforms are also hers and probably the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn.  Paired with a simple top, denim jacket, and my favorite hat, what more could you want in a fun outfit?

Arabian Adventures.

Ever since my big horse trip in Bosnia, I’ve been chasing that fun riding and have been checking out new places to go riding trails.  A friend of mine had a great recommendation and wanted to go riding as well in Point Reyes, CA last weekend so we went here and had an awesome and beautiful ride with Susie and her beautiful Arabians.  She can accommodate all levels and has very well behaved horses.  It was a great chance to explore northern California in my most favorite way 🙂

On our way to the trail head, there were some great horse signs on the road.

My adorable horse was named, Cody.

The mountains and the views were stunning.

We rode through so many different terrains.

The redwoods were beautiful, too!

We packed the horses up to take them to the trail so we also put them back in after the ride.

We did about a 2hr ride and there were about 5x of us as guests.  The drive from San Francisco to Point Reyes was beautiful and the town is adorable with a little main street.  I can’t wait to go back and check out more of Susie’s trails!

SF Style: Meet the Designer!

K Michael

She’s a gorgeous designer from the bay area and has created her own fashion business from scratch.  Who wouldn’t want a peek inside Kristen Michael’s life?!  When not fully emersed in her work as a special education teacher, she makes time to channel her creativity.  We love her work and had a chance to catch up with her to chat about K Michael Style.

1) When did you start designing?
I’ve always had my hands in projects since I was young, but I really started experimenting more after graduating college.  I was making reconstructed clothing from vintage pieces, which soon morphed to making jewelry and scarves.

2) What are your favorite fashion concepts? (90’s grunge, bohemian, etc)
I would have to say a blend of bohemian & edgy.
3) What inspires you outside of fashion?
People who love what they do and those that are happy with very little is something that truly inspires me.
4) What’s the best advice you’ve received about starting your own fashion business?
Be more confident in your product and stop being so shy!  (Marketing is not my strong suit)

5) What’s the most challenging thing about having your own business?
Time.  I am a full time special ed teacher so finding time is my biggest challenge currently.  I always think if I had more time I could do this and that….my to-do list for K.Michael is constantly growing.

6) How would you describe your own style?
I love street style.  Mixing hard and soft, for example ripped jeans with a silk printed blouse and boots, accessorized w/ long layered delicate necklaces and a couple rings (I love rings).

7) Who’s your dream client?
Solange and Nicole Richie

8) Your work seems to be geometric, do you enjoy architecture as well?
It may sound contrary but nature and big cities are two environments that feed my creativity.

9) What’s a great website you visit daily/weekly?
I used to visit multiple fashion blogs but my visits have turned to pinterest, it’s a one stop shop when you don’t have hours to scour the internet.

10) When is your next trunk show/where can we get your jewelry?
Next show:
Holiday in the Vineyards in Livermore @ Charles R. Vineyards
Or host your own trunk show with your freinds or co-workers!
To set one up email me at kmichael002@yahoo.com
instagram @kmichaelstyle and facebook.com/kmichaelstyle for shows, events and new designs!
Thanks for taking a minute to catch up with us!  We have a few favorites of ours that we wanted to share, check ’em out below!

Commercial Stars

About a month or so ago Brittany and I dedicated our Saturday to helping a local brewery film a commercial that would air in the Bay Area. What we are sharing with you is a rough cut but we wanted to show you anyway! It was a lot of fun and a great learning experience- filming is tough work and takes a long time! It’s hard being  a star 😉 We had great fun working with the director, Bryan and his team and thanks to Schurbros Brewery for having us.

IFL Behind the Scenes 1(The beer taps are attached to a stainless steel panel)

IFL Behind the Scenes(Britt is always helping me get it together)

IFL Britt(A regular tap girl!)

IFL Chelsea(I look confused, not sure if this is how you do it!)

IFL Britt Chels(We always enjoy a good brew!)

And now for the rough cut of the commercial- turn it up, the sound is a little funky. Essentially, I am supposed to be an ad exec pitching a terrible idea to the brewery. But the guys like Brittany her dance skills way better, so they invite me to dance and that’s really it. A big dance party at Schubros Brewery. So, if you are thirsty and looking to taste some delicious brew and possibly get your dance on, do it at Schubros! 🙂

We are enjoying getting the chance to wear skirts and dresses as much as we can. It’s a nice luxury for us especially when San Francisco is always so cold. We are taking advantage of every second!
