Food Trend: Geode Cakes

If you’re like me, you find appreciation and beauty in the things that you are unable to create yourself. I am a fairly crafty person who would prefer to make something with my hands if possible but one thing I just cannot pull off is bake. When I stumbled upon these gorgeous Geode cakes, I was in awe. This is a trend that is taking off and it is entirely edible!

Well, I am off to learn how to make rock candy now! Honestly, these should be in a museum- they are like pieces of art. I wonder how they taste…probably just as amazing as they look!

Barn Daze.

Since we have finally received some rain, it’s so nice to see the hills so green!  I put Maz in this plush, beautiful and green pasture to play with his brother Phillip (the white horse in the photos).  They were having a great time so I brought my camera and snapped some pics of them.  As much as I love winter, there’s nothing like a sunny barn day to relax and hang out.

Maz was really loving running around!

After they’d run around for a while, they’d stop and pluck some grass.

Then I let them join their other horse friend, Joia, and the birds came swooping in.  I wish there was such a thing as a professional horse photographer, I’d be all over that 🙂

Jackson Lake Love.

My trip to Jackson Hole was honestly one of the most beautifully scenic trips I’ve taken.  The Grand Tetons were constantly in the background of whatever we were up to and they were unbelievably beautiful.  We spent a day on Jackson Lake on a pontoon boat we rented and Julia commanded for us.  We cruised around and even took a chilly dip which felt like it was needed.  I mean when in Jackson!

Death Canyon Beauty.

Spending time in the mountains this past weekend with some great people was extremely inspiring.  We biked, we hiked, and we did so much more.  I will do a full break out of good eats, trails, and viewing spots.  This was one of my favorite days when we hiked Death Canyon.  The views were stunning and the weather was perfect!

The Big Blue Beautiful.

IMG_4908

I had a quick trip to my favorite lake on this planet this past weekend for a friend’s wedding and it reminded me how much I love Lake Tahoe.  Normally, I spend my time in North Lake Tahoe where I used to live but this weekend we spent time in South Lake and it was fun to re-explore the big beautiful blue.  I love taking pictures of this place, here are a few from this weekend.

Jungle Garden.

While in the jungle in Belize, we stayed on a property of over 73,000 acres.  There were so many beautiful plants and walkways, I loved seeing all the different types of plants that thrived in the Belizean Jungle.

These reminded me of Fall colors in the states.

Bixby Bridge.

One of the most beautiful bridge spans to see along highway 1 is Bixby Bridge.  It’s massive and magnificent.  I’d seen pictures of this bridge and had always wanted to set my eyes on the real deal when I were to make a trip to Big Sur.  I was so delighted on our road trip last weekend that we were able to drive over it and stop to take it all in.

Snagged this shirt from Urban Outfitters on sale recently.  They don’t have it online but in stores in the sale section.  Of course I love the horses on it 🙂

It’s more than worth it to drive to see this bridge.  If nothing else, you will at least enjoy the drive along the coast and through the redwoods.  I can’t wait to go back!

Stinson Beach.

OK so our beaches in Northern California might not always be bikini temperature but after our hike through Muir Woods, we were excited to get down to the ocean and chill out a little bit.  Not to mention, the good snacks they have right on the beach.  Sheena got the brown sugar banana ice cream, Arel tried to soft serve, Rob grabbed a coffee, and I went for a hot latte.  They have something for everyone!

I am so elated to have Sheena back!

What would a trip to Stinson be without stopping along the infamous Hwy 1 for some fun jumping photos? 🙂
