I get high with a little help from my friends

IMG_9033I recently saw a fashion photo with a swing and it got me inspired to do our own take on it.  It was easy enough to find some swing sets but it was much more of a challenge to find the most interesting angles and flowing skirts that didn’t reveal too much.  Chelsea had this beautiful outfit and idea that sheer skirts would flow nicely so we threw on some outfits and headed over to the park.  It was a very hot day but we giggled the entire way through this shoot.  Playing on swings was so much fun and we ended up sweaty and out of breath by the end.  I love our time hanging out and working on the blog together, I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime!!

Photo Feature – Bre and Tibet

IMG_8391

A few posts back, I teased this shoot I did with my friend Bre and her horse, Tibet.  They were really fun to shoot because they both have very elegant features.  Together, they are showing at an extremely high level after Bre worked Tibet back from recovery not too long ago.  I absolutely love watching these two together and was so grateful that they asked me to shoot some photos of them.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Braided Top Knot

IMG_7074

It’s hard to have a cute up-do that’s fun and sophisticated.  One day I had my hair in a pony tail and wanted to add something to it.  Not have just a typical bun or pony tail.  So I braided and twirled and ended up with this easy to do bun!

IMG_70851. Start with a regular pony tail

IMG_70842. Separate strands to start braid

IMG_70833. Braid hair until 1 or 2 inches from the ends of your hair

IMG_70824. Twirl braid around the base of your pony tail

IMG_70815. Tuck the ends of the braid under one of the elastic loops holding your pony tail

IMG_70796. Pin any crazy, out of control pieces down unless you like how they look

IMG_70777. Voila!  Scope it, so easy.

Be My Valentine?

IMG_7167

Who am I kidding, I had one of those in the past and this is definitely an upgrade.  So let me tell you about the best Valentine there is… Forever21. She never fails to bring joy, make you feel beautiful, and send you home with presents!  This Valentine’s Day I’ve decided to slink into this comfy get up and eat all the candy hearts from this post while watching whatever Ryan Gosling movie I desire.  I truly believe in constantly showing someone your love no matter what the day is to friends, family, and/or lover.  Although Valentine’s Day gives you a chance to make everything into a heart shape or eat extra sweet treats.  Don’t judge me 🙂

All jokes aside, we love you.  All of you who have continued to read and ponder about us IFL creators.  We wanted to make you all a handmade valentine to show you how much we care but put us with Elmer’s glue, sparkles and construction paper and we ended up looking like life-size paper mache pinatas with no salvageable Valentine’s to give.  Just know, you’re the best Valentine to us out there ❤

Spring Pools

Inspiration for us can come from all different areas of life.  We saw an ad in a magazine that just blew us away with it’s creativity and colorful/playfulness.  Grabbing some fun make up colors and heading outdoors, we are very happy to showcase some of our favorite fashion photos.

These eye shadows are beautiful and great colors for the end of Winter and Spring time.  Enjoy!

No, I don’t want no scrubs …

I just want a sea salt exfoliate.  Big difference.  Chelsea had been talking about this amazing body “scrub” that she had made a few years ago and how great it made her skin feel.  Before she left for her trip, she decided to make a few batches while I worked on another project.  Let me tell you, this stuff is amazing.  I’m a pretty simple person and not into too many scents or crazy soaps but this is so refreshing and makes your skin so smooth!

What you will need (We stocked up on ours from Whole Foods):
1. Sea Salt
2. Coconut Oil
3. Lemons

IMG_6473(To start out, you may have to heat up the Coconut Oil because you want to make sure that it’s a liquid consistency)

IMG_6466(After the oil has turned to liquid, add it to the sea salt in a large mixing bowl.  The amount of sea salt and oil you use all depends on the storage containers you are going to put them in at the end.  We used mason jars here.)

IMG_6468(Squeeze fresh lemon in to liking.  We added extra lemon because it smells so good!)

IMG_6475(Place the delicious contents in mason jars and add some big chunk slices of lemon.  Voila!  A natural and fabulous body exfoliate.)

These could be a great and thoughtful gift for a friend or family member’s birthday.  Or you could even make this to keep and pamper yourself.  Either way, it’s very simple to make these.  Enjoy!

New Years Nails

We’re back!  Well I’m back while Chelsea prances around Paris.  We hope you all had a great holiday though and a great week.  Chelsea wanted special nails for Paris since she will be spending the New Year under the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower.  This is very easy, considering our last nail attempt was a fail.

IMG_64931.  Paint your nails with a flat color coat that you want to go with the color sparkles you will use.

IMG_6501 2.  Once the first coat dries, start painting the sparkles on the very end of your nails lightly.  Apply as much as you’d like.

IMG_65253.  Boom!  Much better than our last nail fail and very cute.

You can pull this off really easily and quickly.  Get sparkly and enjoy bringing in the New Year!  See you all in 2013 🙂
