Breaking Brittany.

imageI was late on the Breaking Bad train so yes, maybe I’m a Breaking Bad bandwagon watcher but it didn’t stop my obsession for such an amazingly written show.  The plot never stopped my mind questioning and wondering, trying to dissect these characters that you want so badly to figure out.  Let’s be honest though, it would be terrible if we could relate to drug dealers, right?  Anyway, my brother, his wife, and their baby live in Albuquerque right now so when my mom and I went to visit, OF COURSE I wanted to see these monumental places that were staple set locations for this incredible series.
Breaking Bad ep 509, shot on 12/7/12 by Ursula Coyote(Remember how Walt and Skylar’s house was destroyed at the end of the series?  Well you can tell from my photo below, it was all just an act of course.)

(You can buy some in the sugar candy form from the Candy Lady in downtown Albuquerque!  I snuck this photo of their back room and I loved that they keep the candy in bulk tubs like Walt and Jesse keep the drugs in the show.)

image
It’s a small place but I found that the candy lady had the best Breaking Bad gifts.  They had t-shirts, the blue “meth,” and lots of other Breaking Bad things!

(Found it!)

It was totally worth spending half a day driving around and seeing such important places from Breaking Bad.  I wish I would have seen it all while the show was filming.  If you haven’t gotten into it and like action movies, you would probably enjoy following this story line.  Not because seeing terrible things happen is fun but because you see the transformation of a good person turning bad.  Breaking Bad if you will.

Baking Bad.

Every year my mom and I attempt to bake. It always ends up with us creating something completely new to the universe. It’s if fudge, it turns into this runny chocolate creation that we just pile on top of ice cream and serve that way. We are just really really bad at baking. This year we tried a couple of no bake recipes that ended up being not only edible but serve-able! We can actually give these to people and they will be excited to eat them! Yipee! Check them out!

Reindeer Treat(A reindeer treat- As cute as it is delicious)

Reindeer Treat(What you need: Marshmallows, Dark Chocolate Chips, Mini Pretzels, Candy Eyes, and Lollipop Sticks)

Reindeer Treat(Step 1: Put on your elf apron! Put a marshmallow on a stick and dip it in the melted chocolate chips)

Reindeer Treat(Step 2: Place your chocolate dipped marshmallow into two mini pretzels- for ears!)

Reindeer Treat(Step 3: Add on candy eyes and a red icing nose)

If you are looking for something even easier…

Graham Cracker Recipe(Ingredients: Graham Crackers, Dark Chocolate Chips, Candy Cane Bits)

Graham Cracker Recipe(Dip Graham Cracker cookies into melted dark chocolate and sprinkle candy cane bits on top. Cool and serve!)

No bake recipes are pretty simple and very delicious! Anything that minimizes the amount of measuring and cooking is a friend of mine! Happy Holidays and have fun baking this season!

Travel Friday: New Mexico.

Last weekend, my mom and I went to Albuquerque to visit my brother, his wife, and their amazing baby boy, Matthew (the most darling nephew in the entire world).  They were great tour guides and took us all around the city.  I found it to be an incredibly beautiful place and would love to go back.  I didn’t realize the altitude was over 6,000ft there but I guess that’s why they call it “high desert!”  Check out my take on Albuquerque.

It was a quick trip but extremely easy from the Bay Area.  It’s always worth it to get to spend some quality time with family.
