Queenstown, New Zealand

DSC_0578

Our very first day in New Zealand was spent in the South Island in Queenstown. Completely majestic, it sits on a pristine lake surrounded by beautiful mountains and hills. It was a bit chilly that day, the clouds were rolling in quickly and it began to drizzle.

Queenstown was my favorite city that we visited on our trip. It has a lot of fun activities for tourists and is filled with foreigners looking to live somewhere beautiful even if only for a few months.

Queenstown Botanical Garden.

DSC_0653We took a refreshing walk around part of Queenstown’s Lake Wakatipu which held a frisbee golf course, botanical gardens, and a beautiful view of the lake (photos coming soon). We captured some great shots of the flowers blooming during a light drizzle on this brisk Summer day in New Zealand. God, I loved New Zealand.

I think there is no better place to be than a place covered in flowers.

The Clash.

The ClashNow that it’s Spring, I have been dabbling with bolder colors and mixing prints as most of Spring is inspired by the blooming flowers.

A simple DIY- pluck some of your favorite sturdy blossoms and put them in a decorative dish filled with water. Happy Spring!

Flowers in Your Hair.

Flower crowns are beautiful additions to Spring and Summer outfits and are perfect for festival wear.  You can wear them a multitude of ways and find them everywhere, they are also really easy to make- we put one together for this post very simply.

(For Summer concerts, we think it makes a lot of sense to wear them with your hair up. It will keep you cool and add a little something to your ponytail or bun)

(Flower crowns also look great with beachy waves too!)

We love this ultra feminine trend, it reminds us of being a kid and hope it stays around for a long while!

Spring Fling.

Spring FlingOne print we can never get enough of is floral (stay tuned for tomorrow’s post). There is nothing more feminine than flowers, whether it be the print of a dress or even a freshly plucked sprig of Jasmine, there is something so fresh about colorful blossoms. This dress is probably one of the most girly and whimsical pieces that I own. I rarely wear it in the city but it’s one I know I will never get rid of.

Spring FlingSomething I want to try is mixing floral prints, I just need to add more pieces to my wardrobe, I think that can be done!

European Gardens.

IMG_1752Whenever I’m traveling, it seems I pay more attention to the small details that normally you may rush by in everyday life.  I love wandering interesting streets in new places and I found so many beautiful small gardens.  Wandering while snapping photos is something I will always enjoy so stopping to smell the roses on the way was just an added bonus 🙂

Full Bloom.

IMG_8858With this beautiful coming weather, also comes some beautiful full blooms.  My landlord has a fantastic green thumb and the backyard is always looking full of life and color.  The gardens looked so beautiful the other day, I took some time to go out there and shoot some photos of all the beautiful flowers she has planted.  It doesn’t hurt to have such beautiful views right out your window first thing in the morning 🙂

Some TLC to a garden can really bring it to life.  I’m not sure how exactly she maintains these gorgeous flowers but they look magnificent.  Happy Friday!

Photo Feature: Jamie and Winny

IMG_7892I did a photo shoot for an extremely talented rider and friend from my barn last week of her and her horse, Winny.  They were beautiful models and I couldn’t have asked for a better shooting day.  Together these two have won many competitions and are really a treat to get to watch.  Such a powerful duo and they are really bonded which is fun to watch.

IMG_7859(This is my favorite photo for it’s softness and natural motion.  They are both beautiful!)

These two were the perfect models and their photos came out beautiful.  I feel so honored that they asked me to take some photos of them 🙂  Happy Friday everyone!

Oh, The Places You’ll Go.

I was looking through my photos the other day and some made me laugh while others made me say “what was that?!” Either way, they all bring back great memories and I thought I would share some of my favorites with you.

Spring Has Sprung.

IMG_7771I can’t even pretend that Spring has not got me sprung.  The taste of the warm weather has never felt better.  I love winter but when the warm weather sneaks up on you, it’s nice to embrace it.  Along with the nice weather, brings the flowers that are starting to pop up everywhere.  The colors are brilliant and the sky tends to match.  Welcome Spring!
