It’s no surprise that I love horses. I really do in that nerdy little girl wants a pony for her birthday, Christmas, Easter, well, any holiday kinda way. My mom is awesome and still likes to give me anything that reminds her of me and they are always perfectly my style. When I was visiting with her a month or so ago she gave me this awesome shirt that she found at Anthropologie with a horse print on the back of it! I also love polka dots so it’s a perfect combo.
I realized I hadn’t finished sharing all of my photos from Bosnia and I really want everyone to see how beautiful it is. Definitely worth a visit even if you aren’t an avid horse rider because there are many other things to do. Every day was fun to wake up and look out the window because the weather was changing so fast.
Kupres is a short 3 hr drive from Split, Croatia. You get the best of both worlds by flying into Split because you arrive near the ocean and end up in the mountains in Kupres.
After returning from my trip, I was excited to be reunited with Maz (the horse I ride at home). I was really inspired by my trip and I couldn’t wait to get back in the saddle or shall I say no saddle! I can’t tell if he even noticed I was gone or had been horse cheating on him but it was nice to get out to the barn again. Horse hugs are the best kind of hugs!
I’ve just returned from the most incredible horse adventure in Bosnia.
Thanks to my wonderful friends Brian and Hanne (Hanne in the above photo) for telling me about these riding holidays you can experience all over the world, I was able to see what one was like for myself. It was an added bonus that Hanne was available to join in Bosnia as well, I can’t imagine the trip without her! There is an agency called Far and Ride that connected Hanne and I to this most amazing farm in Kupres. The Kupres Farm was full of amazing people and they led us on a new adventure every day. I thought I’d do an intro to the farm post since they made the experience so great.
First there is Fred! He’s the farm dog and amazingly smart. He came along on every ride with us, running alongside for hours on end.
There are a few more people from Kupres farm that I don’t have photos of but the farm was filled with excellent people who took great care of us. I’m so appreciative to them and Far and Ride for matching Hanne and I with Kupres Farm for our riding holiday. They cooked hot lunch and dinner for us everyday and always made sure to check that we were satisfied with our experience. We also got incredibly lucky with the weather. The first half of the week was beautiful and sunny. The second half of the week, a storm rolled in and we were riding in the snow! I couldn’t have asked for more. Each day, we rode somewhere new with no fences to hold us back. We rode through historical places and climbed mountains. I have so many photos to share, can’t wait to get them all up. I figured this is a good start :).
A few posts back, I teased this shoot I did with my friend Bre and her horse, Tibet. They were really fun to shoot because they both have very elegant features. Together, they are showing at an extremely high level after Bre worked Tibet back from recovery not too long ago. I absolutely love watching these two together and was so grateful that they asked me to shoot some photos of them. Here are a few of my favorites.
Hope you are all having a great week!
While in the process of catching up from Coachella, I realized I should give a sneak peak of another photo shoot I shot a few weeks ago. It was a special one because my friend, who is also the owner of this beautiful horse, wanted to incorporate her grandfather’s military flag. It was a brilliant idea of theirs and they looked beautiful. There’s something so wonderful about bringing meaning to the people and pets you love like using this special flag in the present. I’ll post a few more of these soon. Until then, enjoy this sneak peak!
I did a photo shoot for an extremely talented rider and friend from my barn last week of her and her horse, Winny. They were beautiful models and I couldn’t have asked for a better shooting day. Together these two have won many competitions and are really a treat to get to watch. Such a powerful duo and they are really bonded which is fun to watch.
These two were the perfect models and their photos came out beautiful. I feel so honored that they asked me to take some photos of them 🙂 Happy Friday everyone!
There’s something about these animals that is unbelievable. They can be high strung, stubborn and strong but what most people fail to see is the completely submissive, gentle, and compassionate side. Horses are simply freedom embodied in a muscular shell. I’ve been around them my entire life and you couldn’t force me to shake them. Needless to say I also love to photograph them 🙂
Spidey was a great model to shoot some photos of. Whether I’m riding or just hanging out at the barn I love horses and who knows, maybe Chelsea and I will even do another horse fashion shoot soon. She’s a pro with the horses and the photos always come out so interesting.

Fan Favorite Post: Blideo #2
Thank you again for reading and liking us when you do! 2012 has been a fun year for us and let’s hope that it gets even better in 2013!
My entire life, I’ve had this thing for horses. I’ve ridden and taken care of them since I could walk and talk. I was beyond thrilled when Chelsea and our friend Henry wanted to get out to the barn and work with the horses to try and get some artsy blog worthy photos. Chelsea’s photos came out UNREAL and she was a champ with the horses. These are a few of mine.
The barn is the place I go to decompress and enjoy being outdoors. What do you do in your spare time? How much do you think it would take to get Chelsea on a horse? Maybe another Blideo idea is on the rise… Happy Friday everyone. As we like to say, IFF (It’s F#$&ing Friday)!
