Cable Knit Spring.

The sun is starting to come out but there is still a chill in the air.  Since I am always cold, I like to be bundled up while embracing the Spring days to come.  The is my go to outfit at the moment.  What’s yours?

IMG_5442
I love this hat that I got on vacation in Ecuador last summer.

IMG_5441
It’s got a great detailed band.

IMG_5440_2Cable knit keeps me just warm enough.

You never know what you are going to find at the Nordstrom Rack, like this purse!  I also got these flats on super clearance at Banana Republic for under $10.  What a steal!

IMG_5437I’m pretty simple when it comes to dress so this is the perfect outfit for me when the days are chilly but the sun is shining.

Black and White Stripes.

One of my bosses gave me this adorable dress from a fabric show she attended and I absolutely love it!  It’s so simple but funky with the mix and match direction of stripes.  I added some Charlotte Russe cage shoes and a cardigan to seal the outfit.  Sometimes you don’t need to add any color to put together a fun outfit.

SF Style: Meet the Designer!

K Michael

She’s a gorgeous designer from the bay area and has created her own fashion business from scratch.  Who wouldn’t want a peek inside Kristen Michael’s life?!  When not fully emersed in her work as a special education teacher, she makes time to channel her creativity.  We love her work and had a chance to catch up with her to chat about K Michael Style.

1) When did you start designing?
I’ve always had my hands in projects since I was young, but I really started experimenting more after graduating college.  I was making reconstructed clothing from vintage pieces, which soon morphed to making jewelry and scarves.

2) What are your favorite fashion concepts? (90’s grunge, bohemian, etc)
I would have to say a blend of bohemian & edgy.
3) What inspires you outside of fashion?
People who love what they do and those that are happy with very little is something that truly inspires me.
4) What’s the best advice you’ve received about starting your own fashion business?
Be more confident in your product and stop being so shy!  (Marketing is not my strong suit)

5) What’s the most challenging thing about having your own business?
Time.  I am a full time special ed teacher so finding time is my biggest challenge currently.  I always think if I had more time I could do this and that….my to-do list for K.Michael is constantly growing.

6) How would you describe your own style?
I love street style.  Mixing hard and soft, for example ripped jeans with a silk printed blouse and boots, accessorized w/ long layered delicate necklaces and a couple rings (I love rings).

7) Who’s your dream client?
Solange and Nicole Richie

8) Your work seems to be geometric, do you enjoy architecture as well?
It may sound contrary but nature and big cities are two environments that feed my creativity.

9) What’s a great website you visit daily/weekly?
I used to visit multiple fashion blogs but my visits have turned to pinterest, it’s a one stop shop when you don’t have hours to scour the internet.

10) When is your next trunk show/where can we get your jewelry?
Next show:
Holiday in the Vineyards in Livermore @ Charles R. Vineyards
Or host your own trunk show with your freinds or co-workers!
To set one up email me at kmichael002@yahoo.com

Oh Siena.

IMG_9752While we were parading around Italy last May, we went on a road trip to Siena for a day.  It was a beautiful drive and the skies were perfectly enchanting.  While we wandered around this walled city, we got carried away with the mesmorizing sights.  How can a place be this beautiful?!

I’d love to go back.  Funny side note: we pulled over to the side so I could drop a coin into this majestic wishing well.  My coin purse was from a long time ago and I’d brought it from home to Europe as it had a bunch of Euros still in it.  After waiting for the herds of children to part ways just enough for me to squeeze up to the well, I pulled out a coin as they all stared in amazement that I was actually going to drop a coin in.  I started to think maybe it wasn’t right to drop a coin in but to hell with it (When in Sinna, right?).  Bombs away, dropped my coin and walked off.  The kids all left and I went back to look in the well only to find I had dropped a Chuck-E-Cheese token, NOT a coin…. HAHA do dreams come true even on a Chuck-E-Cheese coin?!?  Happy Wednesday 🙂

Roar.

IMG_3823OK, so as much as I love Katy Perry’s new track “Roar,” I did not love her VMA performance.  However, it seems like the track is making a pretty powerful statement.  Have you noticed how the new fashion trend seems to be kitten/lion/tiger prints?!  I paired this Roar-iffic large necklace with a very casual Tee and some shorts.  After all, one statement piece says enough.

IMG_3824(I love my dainty shark tooth bracelet from Forever21)

IMG_3819Easy peasy.  Shirt and shades – Charlotte Russe.  Shorts – Forever21.

Ain’t it fun

IMG_9058After snapping some photos of Chels on the swings, we swapped places and she took some awesome shots.  We took turns swinging and rolling the sand to take the photos and had so much fun producing these photos.  It’s funny to be ‘posing’ while swinging because although they are static shots, you are constantly moving.  In a sense, you never know what you’re going to get.  A lot like Forest Gump’s definition of a box of chocolates.

Fashion Feature – Jonathan from Style Over Stress

p1050706We are always posting about women’s fashion and have been wanting to feature some amazing men’s fashion for a while.  However, never have we ever been inspired to feature someone until we came across Style Over Stress.  The creator and author, Jonathan, is constantly looking beyond fabulous and effortless.  We couldn’t help but share what we think men’s fashion should be all about: bold, classic, and fashion forward.

burgundy(Men’s accessories when done right, can be just the added touch to an outfit.  We love this ring and belt for men’s accessories!)

Whether dressed up or casual, we like Jonathan’s style so much we decided to create a new segment to our blog (Fashion Feature).  He’s always posting great menswear posts and has a great eye.  Check out Style Over Stress for more great men’s fashion!

The New Old School

IMG_7497I’ve been looking for a bag bigger than a purse for traveling on weekends and that I could carry my lunch and wallet to work with.  When I saw this amazing Brandy Melville backpack, I couldn’t resist and I’ve worn it every day since.  I carry it to work, I pack my gym clothes in it, and keep it packed for overnights with my frover.

IMG_7509(Steve Madden booties, Forever 21 key shirt, Urban Outfitters hat, Roxy shorts, and Nordstrom BP sunglasses)

IMG_7529(The shirt also has small shoulder pads which I love, it’s so old school but new school)

IMG_7500

IMG_7516(I also loved the zipper down the back of this shirt)

IMG_7504

IMG_7514(These flat studs are awesome because they don’t snag on anything!)

IMG_7495

Unfortunately, they sold out of this bag really fast but you can find more of their cute bags here.  Shoulder pads and backpacks used to be “old school” but I have full faith they are coming back.  At least, I’m going to treat them like they never left.  They are so convenient and now there are so many cute options!  Why not be proud to wear a backpack?

I Was A Lonely Soul But That’s The Old Me.

I can’t deny that ever since I met Chelsea, the most interesting events have happened to us.  One day I got a call from a friend asking if we would be interested in being in a music video being filmed in the bay area.  Of course we said yes!  We LOVE music and producing and/or being a part of creative content (hence the blog).  We didn’t know many details about it including who or what the video was even for but sent our info to the right place and BOOM!  We started receiving emails about the “secret” locations and what our wardrobe was supposed to look like.  The most fun we had though was trying to nail down the outfits.  This was in our email about what to try to dress as:

Screen Shot 2013-02-24 at 10.29.14 AM

They also sent this photo to try to show us what the wardrobe guidelines were supposed to turn out like:

Screen Shot 2013-02-24 at 10.36.08 AM

We were a little confused but excited by the challenge!  So we dressed up and headed to set.  Although, getting to set was also extremely fun.  We were given a secret location and a map and told to show up around midnight.

Screen Shot 2013-02-24 at 10.38.27 AM

This place was awesome.  The views of San Francisco were beautiful and it was like driving through a forest.  Once we got to the location was the best part.  My friend who works on music video concepts for a label took us around and introduced us to all the people that make these things happen.  We ended up at wardrobe where they had racks and racks of clothing for the shoot.  It was heaven.  Then we got in line with the other people there for wardrobe.  It seems we were the only ones who took the wardrobe guidelines to heart and tried to dress up.  They were dressing everyone else and changing their outfits. Finally, we got to the stylist where they looked us up and down and claimed – great!  We had nailed the look.  And here were our outfits, or at least mine.  Chelsea’s will be up tomorrow so make sure to check back!

IMG_7193(For the actual shoot we disheveled our hair and put twigs in it, they really liked that touch)

IMG_7207

IMG_0984This was actually us AFTER we got home from the shoot.  So much fun to be around all of the hustle and bustle.  We found out once we started getting emails that the shoot was for One Republic’s new song and you know, the song hadn’t been released yet so we had no idea what it was.  It’s one of both of our favorites now.  We had both had a crazy last year and now are so much better for it which I feel is the point of the song.  Check back tomorrow for Chelsea’s wardrobe ace and a link to the video!

February Showers Bring February Florals

IMG_7110
Although I tend to love wearing black because it’s more flattering, I do tend to also love bright colors and especially floral prints.  Since the weather has been so nice lately here in San Francisco, it’s easy to embrace Spring before it arrives.  Who says you can’t wear a skirt in the winter?

IMG_7116(Loving the Nordstrom Brass Plum necklaces they have right now)

IMG_7119(Love my dark purple pumps, they were actually hand-me-downs from my frover Chels 🙂 )

IMG_7122(Uneven cardigan length is like a mullet – business in front, party in the back)

IMG_7118(I even stepped on the wild side and added some cheetah print in with the floral print)

Happy Friday everyone!  Have a great weekend 😀
