All You Need is Love.

It felt like the perfect day to reflect on love. The idea of Valentine’s Day has always struck me as a funny thing and big celebrations baffle me but I do love the idea of celebrating love! Even if we say “it should be all the time, not just today” it is a good calendar set time to try to do something sweet to tell someone or many people in your life that you love them because sometimes we say we are going to do things more frequently and then we never get to it. Since I will be getting married this year, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on why love is so important to me and explore the depths of that. At the end of the day, we all need some support from somewhere to turn to when we need a hug or to be there to give a hug when someone else needs it. The love that I’ve found feels like a heart beat, sometimes it spikes and sometimes it slows down but I don’t know how I would live without it. It keeps me going and brings me life. That’s because my partner, Dan, is simply the best. He’s supportive and fun and adventurous and most of all loving. So here is my my old school meets new school ode to my Valentine, Dan.

Brands We Love: Herbivore

heb about

My lovely co-worker Bonni gave me a gift certificate to a store in San Francisco called Credo as a bridal gift. Credo’s creed is all about putting the best and healthiest products on your face and body. It is amazing how many harsh and cancer causing chemicals are in everything from your face lotion to your mascara. I have recently become much more cautious about the brands that I purchase and one that I discovered on my mission is Herbivore. Herbivore makes healthy beauty products that are not only packaged in a beautiful and clean way, they smell and feel so good on your skin.  I cant get enough of Herbivore because they have products that make you look and feel beautiful in a natural way.

herb face(I use this brightening mask once per week. It leaves my skin feeling tighter and less red. I can feel it working when I have it on my face and it smells AMAZING)

herb water(My new obsession is rose scented water spray. I spritz some on 3 times per day. Once before I put on my moisturizer, once after I put on my makeup to help it set, and then lastly once before I go to sleep with a clean face because it smells like magic)

herb body(We will actually show you how to make a scrub at home but this one is wonderful if you aren’t into making things yourself. It leaves your skin feeling polished and smooth which is important in the summer!)

herb lips(Lastly, this is on my wish list. This color would look so natural on everyone and I am sure based on all of their other products, I would carry this with me everywhere)

All images courtesy of Herbivore. This is not a sponsored post, we truly do love this brand and would only recommend products to you that we actually use and adore!

New York Moment.

photo 1A couple of months ago I took my first trip to New York which was my Christmas gift from Nick. We spent 3 days in Manhattan and I thought it was a lot of fun. Of course 3 days isn’t enough to see all of what New York has to offer but we covered a lot of ground! We biked through Central Park, shopped Soho, and explored one of the coolest parks- the Highline.

photo 3(The Highline is a park built around an old freight line. It’s very clean, has beautiful views, and is surrounded by shops and great restaurants)

photo 4

This was definitely one of my favorite days in New York. We started in the Meatpackaging District, had a great breakfast at a farm to table restaurant, and then walked the Highline. If you get the chance, check it out!

Oh, You Shouldn’t Have… Hint, Hint.

Valentines Day SUrpriseDo you think the whole Valentine’s gift/chocolate/flower exchanging thing is a little archaic? Uh, yeah, we totally do too. But in case you don’t we thought we could help you decide what to get your honey on this special day. Of course, we’re not expecting anything or whatever.

Jewelry!

ring

(Something timeless and tasteful, of course. But everyone knows that the bigger the rock means the more you love her. That’s what Tiger Woods and Kobe Bryant told me)

Purses!

purse

(A girl can never have enough purses. I don’t even have enough stuff to fill all of mine up with but I could always use one more!)

Animals!

piggy

(People LOVE animals. I am pretty sure your boyfriend or girlfriend would LOVE to care for this cutie for the next seven years)

Handwritten Love Notes!

love notes

(The simplest of gestures are often the most appreciated. Leave little notes around for him/her, it will brighten their day. Disclaimer: This one is not a joke, you should do this. A lot. Just saying)

In all honesty, Valentine’s Day should be about showing the person you love that you care about them. You can do it however you want, with kisses or cupcakes, but make sure you do it. Because if you don’t, you’re kind of a jerk.

She Said What?! Part 1

MysteryManX

Mystery Man X is often kept up at night with questions about women. You see, the female population is like an intricate puzzle that he just doesn’t have all of the pieces to.

Mystery Man X:  What does it mean when a woman says, “Don’t worry about it, it’s fine“?  Is it OK to move on from the subject?

Our Response:  HELL NO!  Backpedal faster than you ever have before and even that may not be fast enough. You must have done something stupid like throw away her last stash of cookies or planned a date for the two of you which really turned into him buying a car for four hours (not a joke- this happened to me).  Push the subject further, but tread lightly because that water is infested with hungry ass sharks.

How to make your bad deed right?  Chocolate.  Kisses.  Flowers.  Puppies.
