Cycle Touring.

image
I’ve always wanted to ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge, so when I realized a handful of my other friends had the same desire we pulled a group together and rented some bikes for a self guided tour of the North Bay.  We rented our bikes from Sports Basement in the Presidio since it’s the closest to the bridge.  You can also rent at Pier 39 if you’d like.

image
Of course we stopped to take a few photos 🙂  This is the full biker gang.

After riding over the bridge, we made our first stop in Sausalito at Bar Bocce for some snacks and an ice cold beer.

We made it to stop number 1!

After some rest and snacks, we hopped back on the bikes to head to Tiburon.

The bike paths are beautiful in the north bay!

Just riding through.

image
We cruised around Tiburon for a while before catching the very windy Ferry back to the city (Pier 39).

image
The sun was starting to set as we took the ferry back to the city and it was gorgeous.

image
Riding bikes through the pier was fun to check out the performances.  This guy and all of his sound inventions were awesome!

image
Riding along the bike path back to Sports Basement was beautiful.  We rented the bikes for the day so we just needed to make sure we returned them before they closed.

image
The total loop was about 17-20 miles.  There were some little hills and that not so little hill up to get on the bridge but every hill rewarded us with a spectacular view of some kind.

image
We felt pretty accomplished after our ride so we stopped for a sunset jumping photo :).

This is a great, active and outdoorsy thing to do on a perfect weather day in San Francisco!

Stinson Beach.

OK so our beaches in Northern California might not always be bikini temperature but after our hike through Muir Woods, we were excited to get down to the ocean and chill out a little bit.  Not to mention, the good snacks they have right on the beach.  Sheena got the brown sugar banana ice cream, Arel tried to soft serve, Rob grabbed a coffee, and I went for a hot latte.  They have something for everyone!

I am so elated to have Sheena back!

We had a thing for piggy back photos I guess!

What would a trip to Stinson be without stopping along the infamous Hwy 1 for some fun jumping photos? 🙂

Tahoe Spring.

image
Tahoe is a sad sight for snow right now but as the snow melts away, the emerald beauty reappears just in time for Summer.  With these last few weeks at the ski/snowboard resorts, it’s time to get those last few turns in before you trade in your snow pants for your swim suits.  Tahoe is one of my all time favorite places year round.  You can’t go wrong when you are surrounded by such an amazing place.

image
I was worried that Squaw might not have too many lifts open based on it’s bare face but the upper mountain had a bunch of lifts open!

Upper mountain looking beautiful as ever.

We did hit some rough patches but after an epic day we hit the hot tub at high camp.

image
I can’t believe what a snowless season it was but we will take what we can get and it was still awesome to be up snowboarding in the mountains.

image
Some clouds started to roll in as we headed down the mountain to check out the Winter Wonder Festival in the village.

With Winter already out the door, it’s time to gear up for an epic Summer in the mountains.

image
Although, a storm was creeping in as I left the mountains last weekend so maybe we will be lucky enough to have one last snow storm before it’s full Summer mode!

What is your favorite season to be in the mountains?!

Cabo Activites.

image
While I was in Cabo recently, we ended up doing a lot of fun activities that I would recommend to anyone.  I thought I’d share them all since people have been asking me what places we booked for the other adventure lovers out there!

1 (3)
We used Eco Tours for an awesome day snorkel trip and also an amazing sunset catamaran cruise (see below).

image
The sunset cruise!  We liked Eco Tours because they are all open bar with fun music but not too crazy.  We heard a lot about other boats that were a bit more Spring Break style.

Pesos – are they necessary?  Nope!  We got some for safety measures and used them but you can use American dollars pretty much everywhere.  Be weary of the ATM’s!  A few people used them and ended up with some credit card fraud after the fact.

image
The most popular restaurant in Cabo is most likely The Office.  It’s colorful, festive, and fun!  We came here for dinner and margarita’s where we were front and center by the stage.  They played games with guests, walked around pouring tequila shots, and did dances.

One of the entertainment acts at the Office.

image
We rented a villa, so for good easy fun we hung out on the patio catching up and making drinks together.  A good resort for this is Villa la Estancia.

image
We were also on the beach front area where all of the activities were.  We took full advantage of these.  Renting jet skis ran us $40 and was one of my favorite things we did!  We rode up to the famous arches and by lover’s beach.  We also jumped off the skis to swim and just bobbed along in the ocean.  You have to be careful to not cross to the other side of the arches because the tides are dangerous so make sure to listen to the safety tips from the place you rent from.  There are some serious tips to take note of but not to be scared of.

image
Water taxi’s.  We took these to the harbor and to the day party @ Mango Deck where we spotted reality tv stars and overall was the most interesting people watching.

image
The sunsets were beyond beautiful along the beach!

image
The swim up pool bars were over priced but very convenient and the pool felt so nice!

image
There’s something about a poolside pina colada.

image
We rented paddle boards and loaded a bunch of us on to the boards.  We tried yoga and just laughed a ton trying to balance with so many people on the boards.

Underwater tea parties.  We were lucky because we could swim in the ocean where we were but some places the tide is too strong so if you love the ocean like us make sure you research where you will be staying and the ocean tides!

image
We did a snorkel boat ride which was awesome.

image
On the snorkel catamaran (also ecotours), we saw tons of Humpback whales!  This baby was really putting on a show jumping and twirling around.

We had a blast and really tried a ton of activities!

I’m headed to another exciting bachelorette party this weekend in Santa Barbara so I will make sure to post lots when I get back!  You can follow along on instagram for live postings.

Whale Sightings at Ocean Beach.

IMG_9082

If you follow our blog, you know how much I love to be outside.  The weather has been incredibly warm this week in San Francisco.  We are talking above 70s which is not the norm.  I took full advantage of the time outside which included a walk on the beach after work on Tuesday evening.  As I was walking out to the waters edge, I started seeing spouts bursting straight into the air.  3 of them right among the surfers and there were the most surfers I’ve seen out there in a while.  What I saw next blew me away, a large pod of humpback whales breaching and frolicking amongst the surfers.  I’m sure it wasn’t as neat to be a surfer and have one of them surprise you next to your dangling feet but it seemed like an extra special sighting that I felt lucky to witness.

Two of them here popped up to watch the sunset.

It was truly unbelievable and I hope to see them again on my next beach walk.  There are places you can go in the bay area to whale watch and it looks like this weekend might be the time to do it!  Check out this company to leave right out of Pier 39 and maybe you’ll get luck enough to see these beautiful mammals navigate the seas.

Have a great weekend!

Pedal Power.

imageAs you saw in this post, Chelsea and I really enjoyed the town of Lucca in Italy.  It was the smallest piece of perfect located inside the city walls.  It was also unbelievably awesome that we could ride around the entire wall on bikes.  I love riding bikes and in Europe it is so much easier and safer to ride around cities.

My preferred transportation is bike (or obviously horse if that were possible :D) so it was great to be able to rent bikes and cruise around.  The path was also canopied by tall, beautiful trees that left splattered shadows.  Lucca was very quaint and had a few incredibly unique stores that we discovered.  There is also a very large market that consumes the outside streets of the city.  It’s definitely a wonderful day trip destination.

NOLA Style

I love little details and quaint colors.  New Orleans is FULL of these things.  I had never been to Louisiana before but absolutely fell completely in love with the place over the past weekend.  I went out there for a friend’s wedding and just found myself wandering aimlessly in every direction I could.  It’s a place that everyone should see in their life for many reasons.  It’s all in the details, isn’t it darling?

(One of the most amazing parts of New Orleans is the music scene.  Performers were everywhere and there’s an area called the musicians village just for recording and a place for musical minds to come together)

(The colors everywhere were brilliant, especially in the stained glass all over town.  These two beautiful pieces were in my friend’s family home but stained glass is in the churches, on the streets, and in homes)

(Beads stay in the trees year round from Mardi Gras)

(The colors of the buildings and shutters were amazing.  I stopped to snap a photo in front of one of my favorites)

(I would like this to be my porch in downtown or uptown New Orleans)

(Have you ever seen midnight in Paris?  That’s what I felt like.  Just wandering the streets <the safe parts of course> and finding beautiful, inspiring things/places.  To the right is a free library!  Take or leave a book of your choice)

(Colorful)

(Of course the infamous trolley and a detailed doorway)

(Classics never get old)

(Beautiful)

(Ceiling decor – I want these in my backyard!)

(I was part of a Second Line Parade for my friend Danielle’s Wedding!  It was a top 5 life experience, so incredible!)

(Drinking in public is completely acceptable and fun in New Orleans)

The colors, the people, the food, the sites, the music, and so much more are all to blame for stealing a piece of my heart this past weekend.  I have many more things to share about my time in NOLA including my food pics while in New Orleans!  What a wonderfully inspiring city, have you been?  What was your favorite thing about New Orleans?
