Biking in Napa.

Rob and I spent last weekend in Napa hanging out after I won a free night’s stay at the Carneros Inn.  I know!  I used to be one of those people that said “I never win anything” until I won this great stay :).  The resort is beautiful and posh so if you’re looking for a fancy weekend away in Napa, this is definitely the spot.  We took the property bikes out for the day when we got there and spent some time pedaling around the back roads.  It was beautiful and it felt great to be cruising around the orange and red vineyards.

Saint Emilion, Bordeaux.

Piggybacking off of yesterday’s post, I wanted to share my experience in Saint Emilion where I got to visit some of France’s oldest wineries and city as well.

St Emilion(Chateau L’Arrosee is a more modern style winery with a very simple exterior)

Chateau L'Arrosee(Chateau L’Arrosee vines)

St Emilion(Chateau-Figeac, one of the most beautiful estates I have ever seen)

St Emilion(They paint the barrels red with the wine in order to mark it)

St Emilion(Some of France’s oldest vines)

St Emilion(Yes, that’s a good year!)

St Emilion(St. Emilion, a medieval city with cobblestone steps, it was magical)

If you get to France, make sure you visit Bordeaux and see the oldest vines in the country.

Wine Country.

This past weekend, my family, Rob, and I headed to wine country for the day since my mom had won a winery tour with the owner himself at Rombauer winery.  It was very interesting to see exactly what happens from vine to wine.

I don’t know much about wine but visiting a winery is all about the experience.  Being in beautiful wine country is very relaxing and the drive through Napa alone is worth the visit.

Berry Full.

IMG_8812While shooting for the blog a few weekends ago, Chels and I knew we needed to grab some snacks to take with us outdoors because we get real cranky without anything to eat for too long.  Chelsea had this great idea to throw some berries in a few glasses to bring with us so we could put them on the ground and know bugs weren’t going to get to them.  Then we realized these would be great party favors, table decorators, or even just a good way to display some healthy snacks.  Since it’s the season of ripe fruit, why not put some out for your friends/guests to enjoy!?

This was an easy, accidental find but a great one at that!  Surprise yourself or a friend with a healthy snack and fun wine glass to take home 😀

Napa Valley Weekend

This weekend Nick took me to Napa for a very relaxing getaway! We ate a ton of great food, drank delicious wines, and took in the sun- it was the perfect weekend!

napa(The weather was absolutely perfect, I could not have asked for anything better)Westin Napa

(We stayed at the Westin Napa, it was so pretty and the spa was amazing!)

Trefethen(We sampled a few wines from Trefethen Winery. They were so friendly and it felt like we were in a cellar)

Vineyard Napa(Trefethen vineyard property)

Bottega Restaurant(Lastly we had an amazing meal at Bottega. Everything was delicious and the interior was beautiful)

napa wine train(While we didn’t take the Wine Train, it looked very cute!)

We are so lucky to have such a gorgeous backyard! Just another reason I love living in Northern California! If you are ever in the area, you have to do a Napa daytrip!

Fake It ‘Til You Make It

It’s that time of year when people invite themselves over and intrude upon your private space because it is the holidays and they want to spend time with you. Sigh. Alright, we’ll play nice and try to accommodate the best we can. We gathered some tips on how to spruce up your apartment in a pinch and give the false impression that you live in a civilized manner all year round.

1. First Impressions.

Gerard Butler

(Make your boyfriend, friend, or roommate greet your guest at the door dressed as your personal butler. This is important in fooling your guest into thinking you are living a highly refined life. Actually one better, get Gerard Butler to dress as a butler and answer the door for you, whatever you do after that pretty much won’t matter.)

2. Tidy Up.

(Don’t have time for a deep clean? Don’t worry, there is an easy solution. Shove your scattered clothes, shoes, and spare tutu into your closet as quickly as you can. Then take your shoe rack and move it in front of your closet door in case your guest decides to get snoopy)

3. Mood Lighting.

(Class up the joint by placing a candle in a tiny little mason jar. But don’t stop there, tie some twine around the top so that you disguise the fact that you just stuck a candle in a jar)

4. Refreshments

(Someone told me that they once went to a super fancy dance club and there was champagne in the bathroom! Well, I drank all of mine the other night so I placed some extra beer and wine I had around the toilet instead which should do the trick! Whatever you do, make sure you keep a wine and bottle opener within reach so that your guest can pop their bottles easily)

Well, there you have it, 4 easy and totally doable steps that transform your apartment into a chic lounge that could trick any of your imposing friends into thinking you are classy.
